India’s telecom regulator, Trai, is considering withdrawing its consultation paper on licensing for OTT communication services. This follows Bharti Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal’s call for regulatory oversight of internet-based voice and messaging services to combat spam and cyber frauds. Trai chairman Anil Kumar Lahoti stated that the issue is under review.
